It Looks Like The Queen Just Trolled The UK Prime-Minister About Brexit In The Most Brilliant Way
When The Queen of England delivers her yearly speech, she usually does so while dressed in a plethora of typically royal regalia. Jewels. Furry robes. And, of course, a crown.
But this year Queen Elizabeth II raised eyebrows by ditching the traditional regal attire and opting instead for a simpler outfit. But it wasn’t so much the style of the outfit as the colors she chose to wear, because as you can see from the pictures below, which were recently uploaded by somebody named WelshArtist, the blue fabric and yellow flowers on her hat bear more than a striking resemblance to the colors of the EU flag. The fact that her speech focused heavily on Brexit only added to the rumors. Was The Queen sending a secret message about her thoughts on leaving the EU? Was she subtly trying to troll UK Prime Minister Theresa May? Or did she simply like the colors and decide to wear them because she’s the Queen of England and can do whatever she damn well pleases? Nobody knows for sure. What do you think?

Is it just us or does the queen’s hat look like the EU flag?

Actually, no. It had already been decided to be a dress-down when the election was called. The real reason was that because it was a snap election, it hadn't been put in the diary. The normal procession and occasion takes a huge amount of rehearsal, and it was too close to the trooping of the colours. It simply wasn't possible to schedule it in. A similar thing happened in 1974 at the snap election then.

Everyone stop being so, "matter of fact", on the matter! Whether she was making a statement or not it is fun to imagine she might have been. I personally think it is a mix of the two reasons: first yes it was for all of the logistical reasons below, and second maybe the colors were for a statement. Everything I have ever read on the queen is that she is VERY meticulous in EVERYTHING she does!
Or it could just be because she was hurrying off to Royal Ascot immediately afterwards and this was the outfit she wanted to wear at the races. According to BBC News, all the usual pomp and circumstance - not just the Queen's outfit - was curtailed this year because the snap election screwed with the rehearsals.
But she changed for Ascot, which adds a little to the theory that what she wore for Parliament was chosen just for Parliament.
Load More Replies...It was announced well in advance that this year Queen's speech was going to be a "dress down " affair due to several reasons (snap elections, logistics, etc.) so all the rest is a muted point. Now, the choice of outfit could certainly had been a very clever and coincidental statement! Hats off, ma'am God bless you!
