People Refuse To Leave And Stay Behind To Save Stranded Cats From Flood In Houston
Hurricane Harvey has left countless of residents stranded in Texas – and pets were also affected by the floods, with many of them getting left behind. We have already written about brave people going an extra mile to save the dogs in danger, but luckily, kitties weren’t forgotten either.
A picture of six cats rescued on August 28 is going viral. The felines were found in the Houston area and were safely transported to the shelter. There, they got all the help they needed.
Indeed, it’s a very busy time for local rescue organizations such as SPCA of Texas and Austin Pets Alive. Since the beginning of the emergency, they have transported hundreds of animals from the affected areas to their shelters or foster homes.
“From the fosters who waited in line for over two hours to help give an animal a safe and dry place to stay, to the amazing donors showing up with carloads of much needed items, to online funding support – we thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” APA said.
“As we continue to care for the animals we have already saved, we have to prepare for even more animals who will need us in the coming days.”

It is said that one way of measuring how civilized a society is how they treat animals.
