Some things are unexpected, just like my “can’t-remember-how-many-months” spended by sketching and drawing inch by inch. I would never ever jumped into a project full of doubts. I can’t stop wondering how I say to other people “hey, no problem, I can do that” and then I slap my forehead (on the other side it’s good to have such a gift). It’s always the same scenario, but with a good ending.
This is a story of how I accepted an order of my friend‘s cousin to draw a picture as a gift for her boyfriend. “Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks to Sultan Mehmed IV of the Ottoman Empire” by russian realist painter Ilya Yefimovich Repin was the request. At first, I refused, but then I said “OK, I’ll try it” and then I nailed it. Well, right after a half year (not continuous, of course). In this post it is my pleasure to present you 35,5 inches wide and 22 inches high piece of my effort.
It’s worth to meet people with crazy ideas because they move you forward.

Not giving up and still without a canvas stand
The final result
… more colorful than the original, but still proud of it. Hope you like it too.
I like the colourfull-ness; better than the original actually! Good work!
