My husband Rick started out making lunch notes on index cards for our son Cameron in Kindergarten, each one with a unique illustration and message of love. He continued this tradition, every day, every school year, spending a little time each morning to create something new & special. By the time Cameron finished 3rd grade, we had hundreds of cards. Looking thru them provides us with much entertainment as most depict events, ideas, and adventures (and mishaps) we’ve shared as a family.
This school year, Rick decided to do something different – using a sketchbook, he has been writing a graphic novel that Cameron and his friends (and even teachers) follow each day. He’s very humble about this labor of love, as most days he feels he is too rushed to do his ‘best work’. But I not only admire his talent, I love him for being such a great Dad and making sure that our son goes to school each day feeling loved (and entertained).
