I did some "FACT checking" and this lady does NOTHING to harm any living creatures inside those shells. As matter of fact, - "To make her mermaid crowns, Shiels uses seashells that she sources from places that have an excess of shells on beaches; she works with suppliers in Australia, India, and Hawaii."

OMG ... I shell all the time... find EMPTY shells ALL THE TIME! If you saw my house you would think I harvest Whelk shells!!! Every single one was found EMPTY! All the die hard shellers I know do NOT take live shells. They are put back in the ocean to live and grow and do what they do!

These crowns are beautiful works of art for sure! I don't know about all the shells but I do worry about the ones that Hermit Crabs might use (and there are quite a few of those in these crowns). That would be an environmental concern.

Not stupid. It all adds up. All our actions are cumulative. These are gorgeous crowns, but having traveled to many of the places the shells are from, I know people collect live ones as they are usually perfect. collecting DOES have an impact.
