This Turtle Was Dragged From The Sea For Selfies Until These People Rescued Him
This marine turtle was minding his own peaceful turtle business when suddenly he felt himself being dragged out of his home, the Mediterranean Sea. Not only was he forced out of the water for selfies at Havana Beach in Beirut, Lebanon, he was also repeatedly beaten and stepped on.
A crying boy was forced to stand on the poor turtle even though the kid didn’t even seem to want it. Fortunately, among that ignorant crowd there was a couple of people who cared about the turtle and stepped in to help him get to safety.
Now the turtle is being cared for by the Animals Lebanon organization. The magnificent creature is currently spending his days in a rehabilitation pool set up by the rescue. “The turtle has a very evident spot on his skull, the very top of his head, where he has been hit,” Jason Mier, executive director of Animals Lebanon, told The Dodo. “All that can be done is to give the antibiotics to help fight off any possible infection while it [the wound] is still new and [has] time to heal,” he explained. When the turtle fully recovers, he will be released back into the sea.

Share on FacebookSeen the same thing on Hawaii. There they even have guards on crowded beaches. They come when turtles and monk seals come to land and put a temporary fence up. This action feels very odd but obviously is needed. I have seen turtles lying peacefully on the beach, people keeping their distance. Then a bus stops, hordes pop out and storm towards it. Even if then a fence gets set up, people send their children to pass below it or approach a seal from the sea side. It is hard to understand this combination of selfishnesh, stupidity, and actual self-inflicted danger. After all, these are wild animals and migth even injure you if they panik.
what is wrong with those people?!?! they're like: " oh look at my cool selfie with a turtle!!! I don't care if it dies!!! anyway its just a turtle!!! " thank you to those people that rescued the turtle
Wtf is wrong with people? Lately you read more of these things. People pulling sharks, turtles and other creatures out of the sea for their stupid selfies! Stupid ignorant people. "Look at me! I took a selfie with an animal, don't care if it died, I have my selfie, give me likes, give me attention." Damn, I hope karma catches up with these people. I hope all their friends and family ditch them for doing c**p like that. -_- Good thing some people were smart and rescued the poor thing though.
Well, lately you read more...because there is social media to let you read about it. I am skeptical whether this is a trend, and it surely is not caused by social media itself. People have been egoistic and stupid, people are egoistic and stupid, and, alas, it looks like people will be egoistic and stupid.
