Maybelline has a new campaign face and for the first time ever it’s a guy!
Named Manny Gutierrez, the 25-year-old is a so-called “beauty boy” that posts make-up tutorials to his millions of followers. “As a child, I would watch my mom get ready for work and just sit there for hours watching her transform,” he told Teen Vogue in 2016. “However, it wasn’t until much later on that I really started to dabble in makeup myself.” And we must say, he’s pretty good! With over 3 million followers on Instagram and 2 million subscribers on Youtube, no wonder this guy is the newest face of Maybelline!

Yes indeed, it's creating buzz which is good for business. However, it isn't making me want to go buy makeup. But I'm not the demographic.

Rock stars do that since decades ago. And K-pop stars too actually. I get your point, though.
Load More Replies...I think it's great. Their market demographic, young women, are used to seeing guys in make up at Sephora, on Instagram on YouTube a fair percentage of the beauty bloggers out there are male, and even among their peers so it's a great marketing idea & hey I'm all for it to. To Quote Wayne Goss, another male beauty blogger, it's only make up.
The makeup is beautiful and flawless. I greatly admire people who have the artistic abilities to create great makeup effects, male or female. It's too bad the campaign line is focused on mascara though because he's obviously wearing false eyelashes in every single shot.
every person on this world is more cute without that sh¨t called makeup .. :/

So many male celebrities around the world wear make-up, but I bet you don't even notice. The thing is, there are various make-up styles for various kinds of looks. And no, it's not even always a neutral look, for many rock and pop stars obviously wear mascaras, and eyeshadows, eyeliners, lipsticks, face-paint etc., and still look masculine. This boy in this advert, he looks feminine because he likes it this way, but not all guys who wear make-up look, or aim to look, like females.
If wearing makeup makes him happy - let him do it! It's not hurting anyone. I always think if you're not hurting anyone or making anyone else unhappy, then do anything that makes YOU happy. Who decided that boys can't wear makeup? Why does it bother anyone? It shouldn't! Let's get a little tolerance in the world everyone. Those that are annoyed/disgusted/angry at looking at him wearing makeup, what does that say about YOU?
The problem is that maybelline showing that as a big fkn deal. And this is the problem by itself that people actually care about such things instead of something really interesting or more meaningfull
