Mind-Bending Photos Of Istanbul Look Straight From Inception
Dear Inception fans, “Flatland” is not a sequel, but it’s still quite fascinating. The digital series of Turkish artist Aydın Büyüktaş distorts the streets of Istanbul into a surreal cityscape to challenge viewer’s perspective.
“We live in places that most of the times don’t draw our attention, places that transform our memories, places that the artist gives another dimension,” says Büyüktaş. “These works aim to leave the viewer alone with a surprising visuality, ironic as well as multidimensional, romantic point of view.”
The project was originally inspired by Edwin A. Abbott’s satirical novella “Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions.” It is a story of a two-dimensional world occupied by geometric figures.
