Ice Skating Above Underwater Prison
Inmates in this Soviet prison probably never imagined that a place full of violence could become so quiet and beautiful. However, Hilife has released a video about ice skating above Rummu prison in Estonia and the footage looks wonderful. “The water/ice was so clean that you could see everything underneath your feet,” they said. The ice was only about 2 inches thick, but that didn’t stop the crew from having loads of fun. During the Soviet occupation of Estonia, prisoners were forced to work in a nearby water-drained quarry, but after the country regained its independence in the early ’90s, the site was closed. The pumping of water also ceased and over time it flooded the prison, making Rummu a featured destination for scuba diving and other activities.
