“I Have A Husky Giving Birth In The Back Of My Car. Please Don’t Tell My Husband”

Husky Debbie was going into labor at a shelter, and it clearly isn’t a place for a mom and her pups. So when an animal shelter worker yelled “She’s having her babies now!” rescue volunteer Jennifer Taylor knew something needed to be done.

Texas Sled Dog Rescue agreed to take the soon-to-be mom, but as Taylor was arranging a ride, she understood that the hour ride to the place was too long for Debbie.

Within moments, the Husky started bringing her puppies into the world. Taylor immediately decided to take the growing family home and give it all the care it needed, even if temporarily.

You see, Taylor has fostered about 500 dogs and drove around so many of them that her husband bought her an SUV just for the dogs. After she was walking Debbie out of the shelter, however, Taylor remembered that she used her husband’s car to drive to the shelter that day instead. It was supposed to remain pooch-free.

Taylor picked up the Husky anyway. “I have a husky giving birth in the back of my car. Please don’t tell my husband,” she wrote on Facebook (which her other half doesn’t use).

“I said, ‘Hang on, mamma,’ and she was in the back of my Mercedes in labor. I drove as fast as I could, juggling driving and trying to monitor her,” Taylor told The DoDo.

Debbie had 8 puppies that day – 6 girls and 2 boys. “We picked The Big Bang Theory as the theme for this family because they came in with such a bang; it just seemed fitting,” Texas Sled Dog Rescue’s Rebecca Chavez said. The runt is still recovering, waiting for their trip to a foster home.

This story confuses me. 1. Posting "don't tell my husband" on social media... you're swearing the internet to secrecy?... or you could just skip posting. 2. She's driving, monitoring a birthing dog and posting to facebook...how is that better than letting the dog give birth in the shelter?

I'm assuming the don't tell my husband is more a cutesy joke. He's gonna fins out anyway. She probably hoped she had enough time to get the dog to her house to give birth. 6 out of 8 were born there after all. I would've opted to keep her at the shelter and stay with her and make her comfortable, though. Maybe move her into someone's office for quiet. It might not be a great place but moving an animal giving birth... if it was me I'd be stressed out.
