The fact you have depression saddens me for it leaches out so much of the joy in living . So many sufferers have been helped by medication. Often , they have had to find the right one & the right dose & this can be challenging . John, you seem to enjoy your work , & , have a touching love for Charlie. You are a caring , emotionally stable person ,who has goals . That's more than many people possess.

It's not about age John, I am 38 and I live alone and I am not lonely, plus I have my fur babies to keep me company. We talk to each other and yes that sounds mad but they understand me better than any person. Loneliness is a feeling and I can feel far lonelier in a room full of family and friends than I ever do at home on my own. I am glad you have Charlie to keep you company and help you stay happy. And I agree with Julien you sound like such a sweet gentle soul :) :)

Solitude does not come from living alone only, i actually enjoyed living alone for a time too.But social life and other many little things are there outside our doorstep. Don't isolate yourself!

Solitude is something so rarely praised. I am 20 and I dread having someone by my side at all times. I wish more people would see the beauty in being alone.

I suffer from depression as well and I'm way more content with being alone than being around people. I'm somehow more productive on my own too so I guess it's just about the person and not the disorders they suffer from~

Hi John, 31 one year old woman with (mild-ish) chronic deoression here. I live on my own for the first time now. Before there had been family, a partner or flatmates. It's incredibly peaceful and freeing. I still work 45 hours a week out of the house, so I'm not confined to solitude. Also I have to make an effort to get out and spend time with friends. But having my own place, with no one else being able to interfere with it, is just priceless and brings me so much peace. I had been acting as a mother figure for so long even though I never had my own children. I need a break. You do seem like a lovely person, I hope you read this and can see my point of view. I hope you are doing well!

Hi John, I've been depressed for a long time too and started to listen to 'Being you, changing the world' from Dain Heer and learned running Bars, after I brought my dad to a session because he was in a spiral of anxiety causing heart troubles and leveling up his stress and forgetfulness. After they run our Bars and we where outside, he said to me: it's quiet inside now..., I don't know what to do with that... And I've tried many things on him he wouldn't open up to, but this worked. And learned Bars to help him and made me connect to me again and even want to connect again with others. And that was frankly something I thought would never be possible again.

John there is no gay PR. Stop it with your conspiracies. The world has just gotten more open and fights for the rights of minorities. You don't like it? You don't have to comment. I wait for your reply on the transgender post. Too many transgender propaganda shoved down your throat? That would be your way of saying it. But the article with the single transman a couple of weeks ago generated so much hate, about one third of the comments being extremely hurtful. Showing that articles like this are still necessary.

M.M. John's hate is right there in his reply. He doesn't want to see more LGTB posts because it's gay propaganda. Think about this for a minute. But he isn't hateful, because he "has a black/gay friend so he can't be racist/homophobic".
