This friendly dog was found trapped in filth and imprisoned by his overgrown coat in a neglected barn with dirt and feces blocking the door. Well, they say a new haircut marks a new beginning, and this was definitely the case with this cutie who got just over 35 pounds of fur cut off…
About a week ago, two groomers were asked by a neighbor to help a sad dog named Lazarus, whose owner is terminally ill. So they came to the rescue and freed him – first, from the stall, and then, from his coat, taking an enormous amount of fur off.
Lazarus was taken to the nonprofit Big Fluffy Dog Rescue. At the beginning, Lazarus seemed unsure when being groomed. However, once the fur was off, he immediately livened up and calmed down, making it obvious he was feeling relieved. It was clear Lazarus wasn’t used to human touch, but turned out to be a very happy, friendly and grateful dog.
The pooch still can’t believe his luck! He has ‘seen and suffered too much’, the founder of the nonprofit Jean Harrison told The Dodo. Well, the rescuers have finding a permanent home for Lazarus in their plans, so the doggie better get used to some serious lovin’!
