The idea to shoot and create the series “Dark Machine” was inspired by a storyline and atmosphere that I wanted to create, sometimes involving sci-fi or a another galaxy. The photos were created on location near the D1 motorway construction areas in Slovakia.

The machines had to be photographed in 11 mm ultra-wide panoramas and subsequently combined to form dynamic images. Photo manipulations were needed to create dramatic lighting, so I used colored and dramatic clouds, often shooting them in long exposure shots using the ND filte. The combined shots were edited as HDR photos. Some of these photos required even 10 or more hours of work. The photo montages emphasize our bad relationship with nature and show the destructive force of environmental disasters. My gear and tools included a Canon 7D + Tokina 11-16 mm, Photoshop, and the Nik Software Collection.
