20 Newly Hatched Baby Chameleons Create Cuteness Overload Crisis At Sydney Zoo
If you’ve ever had any doubt about how cute reptiles can be, let us end those doubts right now. This gang of more than 20 baby chameleons, recently hatched at Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia, is one of the cutest band of curious explorers that we’ve ever seen.
The little green guys are veiled chameleons, which are native to Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Though they may sometimes use their color changes for camouflage, their colors change far more often in response to temperature changes, stress or courtship. They eat plants and insects, which they catch with their long, sticky tongues.
Veiled chameleons are not endangered and are hardy breeders, so many breeders do offer them as pets.
