My Wife Told Me We Needed Pictures Of The Kids And Bought Me A Camera, Then This Happened
In early 2015 my wife told me we needed to start taking some kids' photos, as they were growing up fast and there were so many great moments we were missing and they were gone forever. Sure we captured a lot of these moments with our phones but she wanted some beautiful photos in high quality. So for my birthday, she bought me a Samsung nx500.
I had used cameras before doing some amateur short films and just kind of playing around, but I knew very little if not close to nothing about photography techniques or photography art. I played around with it for a couple of months not really doing anything special until one day I came across a photographer on the internet, Lisa Holloway. Her children's photography was incredible and I sort of became obsessed with what could be done with the camera.
So I started watching YouTube videos and finding any kind of training that I could and just couldn't seem to get enough of it. It was in October when I finally pulled the camera out and started getting serious with it and taking family photos. Every day I'm trying to push myself to be creative and original and artistic in every photo!
It's been just over a year now and these are some of my favorites! You can see more of my photo ideas and follow me on my Facebook page!

You are so right. Took a walk on my family's farm with a friend and the cows, whilst very used to me, followed us everywhere because they'd not seen her before! I had to keep chasing them away as she was scared. Oh dear.
Load More Replies...Beautifully composed and the cutest subject matter!! Mind you the bunny is very lucky not to get a curious lick from the cow - they have big strong tongues!
Ha! Nope, the bunny didn't get a cow lick! XD Thanks!
Load More Replies...Look at the eyes on the child, very carefully watching to make sure everyone is keeping safe. Love it!
He was thinking "HOLY COW!!!"! ;)
Load More Replies...Play it again would you please?
Load More Replies...I love how people are thinking of this photo, for me I want to imagine that the bear is saying 'now the G' because magic can happen in the forest :)
Anything can happen in the Forest of Imaginations! ;)
Load More Replies...Notice it is a different bunny! :P
Load More Replies...you are a very loving gifted dad . May God bless you and your loved ones !!
''Mom, why are there eyes on this super soft pillow?"
They are, they've been in the family for about 12 years.
Load More Replies...So beautiful to see a child showing such amazement with nature. My heart melts.
He is fearless, he walks up to the cow and smacks him on the nose and starts laughing! I have to keep telling him to pick on someone his own size! XD
Load More Replies...Common Jeff, you know we're not that mean, we use rubber bands! :D
Load More Replies...The simple things are wonderful! :)
Load More Replies...What a fabulous lifestyle and skilled photography: not to mention the beautiful children.
Haha, yes it does, but not to bad, and all of the fun chickens ducks geese turkeys and ginny make up for the smell. ;)
Load More Replies...a very good 'exposure' actually , not that easy 'contrejour' .. - one off , or 'bracketed' ??
Not bracketed, just regular exposure early in the morning when the sun was bursting through the cracks.
Load More Replies...Actually he ducked him under completely, he thought it was funny! But no worries, today took a nice ride through the dryer. :)
Load More Replies...if you won't mind my comment , but i find the 'reflection' a little disturbing-distracting , me thinks its 'improved' by cropping just above those three 'bubbles' , or where the bears reflected legs end ... Try it and give me you thoughts , hanszl19@gmail.com
Thank you for your feedback!
Load More Replies...Hahaha! Only you can prevent forest fires!!! ;)
Load More Replies...Maybe a cousin or something that isn't around all the time?
Load More Replies...One day, you'll grow to be a great big tree and I will be able to climb your branches and hang a swing and be with you always!
Why can't I remember where I've heard that before??? 😩
Load More Replies...The trees in background - photoshopped, not all of them cast a shaddow. Beautiful nontheless!
Load More Replies...I think those children are better left where they are rather than introducing them to the world of Gap and all that goes along with it. Just sayin'
Load More Replies...Just beautiful and wholesome and makes us want to be that blissfully content again.
Thank you so much Annelise! :)
Load More Replies...I love how they look so natural an unstaged, even though some planning must have gone into such beautifully crafted shots. Kudos!
Thank you Di! Yes, I did try to plan some of these but they almost never worked out, then the kids would step in and come up with something much better! ;)
Load More Replies...How sweet these moments existed and were captured beautifully for a wonderful future memory. Children grow up so fast and I'm glad to see this family outside enjoying animals and nature. 🌈
Thank you for your kind words Audrey!
