Artist Creates Adult Coloring Books And Sells More Than A Million Copies
Who said adults can’t use coloring books? Johanna Basford, a talented illustrator and artists in the UK, has created a series of coloring books that have become wildly popular, selling more than a million copies.
Basford’s beautiful books, which can be found on Amazon, are full of beautiful illustrations of fairytale forests and beasts. She told Dailymail that she had been inspired by her childhood visits to her grandparents’ home on the Isle of Arran in Ayrshire in south-western Scotland.
“Every piece I create starts life as a simple pencil sketch, evolving into a rambling pen and ink drawing usually spanning several sheets of paper. I love the tactile nature of the materials I use and the joy of smudgy fingerprints,” she writes on her website. “For me, computer generated graphics can feel cold and soulless whereas hand drawing captures a sense of energy and character which no pixel can ever replicate.“

Share on FacebookI want this book! What a lovely idea. I still love to colour and I still love to watch animated movies. Adults love being creative, too!
Would love this as a birthday present! And don't forget the coloring pencils!!! :)
I have Enchanted Forest and I love it! I would recommend it defanately! They are so fun to colour!
another book that i think is super underappreciated is called "Color This: Mandalas" on amazon!!! i know the artist personally, her name is Kristina and honestly its just amazing AND all hand drawn! super cool for a school-aged/maybe early college-aged artist. i might be biased, so i'll let you judge for yourself 😉 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0D6GQ7CRT/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_8?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
My parents know how artistic (and autistic (; ) I am, but my dad always thinks I'm mad to be colouring in at 27, lol.
