Cat Moods Explained

What is your cat thinking?

What signals is he sending you through his tail? She’s staring at you and is she happy or angry?

In an attempt to deconstruct the body-language of cats, we present you with this little web story. This artwork is from our newest project, Tess & Lion.

Other than the ninja part, this is my two cats. Smokey (female) and Tiger (male) are 7 yr old siblings I rescued at approx 1 week old. Despite being raised together, they have completely different personalities. Smokey is the curious/friendly one who will approach visitors for head/chin scratches (and any food they may drop)... and who will openly investigate their jacket pockets and purses to be sure they haven't brought anything unauthorized into my...er, HER home. Tiger, on the other hand, hides under the recliner the minute anyone unfamiliar comes to the door (before the door is even open!) - and won't come out again until they've been gone at least 2 hours. He could have to pee so bad he's walking with crossed legs, but he will NOT come out until he's 1000% sure the scary stranger is gone. So Tiger, the 16 lb bruiser is the scaredy cat, and his svelt sister, Smokey, who is barely half his weight, is the one that has no fear. Go figure!!
