Brazilian tattoo artist Brian Gomes brings the spirit of the Amazon to his work by creating tattoo designs inspired by the geometric artwork of native tribes.
"I find tattoo inspirations in Brazilian indigenous graphics, sacred geometry, Islamic and oriental patterns," says the Sao Paulo-based Gomes, who cites shamanic philosophy as a major influence. “Unique tattoos are the ripe fruit of the soul, they are our inner beauty.” His patterns channel both Brazilian and Peruvian tribes, and he credits the artwork of the Shipibo-Conibo people (who live along the Ucayali River in the Amazon rain forest in Peru) and the Huni Kuin Amazon tribe (also known as Kaxinawa, or the Kashinawa) as major influences in his work. While his tattoo ideas honor traditional patterns, he never copies sacred designs directly and instead uses them to inspire his own homage to these indigenous tribes. I had a wristband just like that one 6 or 7 years ago! And here I am today, looking for some pictures to design a tattoo for the person who gave it to me in the first place.
lol - Poor guy got a rash from the ink? I have to wonder if it were an allergic reaction , then he's lucky his whole arm didn't become affected.
I have feelings about all these tattoos, but I don't know what they mean :-(
