The German City Of Karlsruhe Just Issued A Parking Ticket To A Bent Car Sculpture By Austrian Artist Erwin Wurm
An illegally parked art installation in Karlsruhe, Germany was ticketed for 30 euro last week. The bent red Mercedes MB100D truck is the work of Austrian artist Erwin Wurm, who is famous for his distorted-vehicle pieces. It was created as part of the city’s 300th birthday celebrations, and is distorted to show the “mundane from a different perspective.”
Erwin Wurm was born in 1954 and lives in Vienna and Liberg, Austria. In the book “The Artist Who Swallowed The World” by Hatje Cantz, Wurm is quoted as saying “I am interested in the everyday life. All the materials that surrounded me could be useful, as well as the objects, topics involved in contemporary society. My work speaks about the whole entity of a human being: the physical, the spiritual, the psychological and the political.”
