Rescuers Rush To A Car Accident, Then They See The Tiniest Hand Reaching For Help
A car recently hit a kangaroo in Australia, and the heartless person just drove away. By the time the help arrived, the animal was dead. However, then the rescuers saw the tiniest hand reaching out for help…
Melanie Fraser, a rescue worker with Macedon Ranges Wildlife Network and Wildlife Victoria in Australia, was the first to see it. When she checked the kangaroo’s pouch, she found a pink baby fighting to survive. He was waving his tiny hand in the air, as if saying ‘Help me, I’m here, and I want to live.”
“Had he been left much longer, ants or the elements would have eventually killed him,” Fraser told The Dodo. The woman named the tiny fellow Dawon, and took him to Christine Gilmore, a wildlife rehabilitation worker.
Since then, he has been given* everything he needs to be fit, healthy, and strong. Gilmore makes sure the months-old kangaroo also gets plenty of love and TLC. “I am now his mum,” says the woman.
Dawson even has another orphaned kangaroo baby named Nelson to cuddle with. “Nelson is a little bigger than him, and they will grow together and be released together,” Gilmore said.

Share on FacebookI'm pretty sure the person who hit this kangaroo got out of their car and dragged it to the side of the road so no other people would hit it. Also, kangaroos can be massive and very difficult to see at nighttime because they hide in the bush or the pine forests and just jump out onto the road. Its actually quite terrifying. The person who hit this kangaroo is not heartless - but was probably pretty shook up.

I googled it and apparently there are wildlife hotlines that you can call if you hit an animal. You don't have to stay there and wait for them, so calling this person "heartless" just because they drove away is ridiculous. Do we know for sure that they didn't call the hotline? After all, the rescuers arrived in time to save the baby...
I saw I kangaroo get hit by a car once. The right thing to do, would be to stay with the animal until help arrives. The guy that I saw sit the kangaroo, stayed there and police were nice enough to stop and put it on a stretcher and drive it away. I stayed as well, as I was trying to call the wildlife emergency hotline, but they didn't answer and I had to eventually leave a message on their answering machine. Yes, that hotline can be extremely useless at times.
