Heartbreaking Photo Of Dazed 5-Year-Old Boy Shows The Horrors Of Syria’s Civil War

If pictures speak louder than words then this image of a five-year-old Syrian boy waiting in an ambulance after a recent airstrike in Aleppo is just about as loud as it gets.

The boy, named Omran Daqneesh, was one of five children injured in an airstrike on Qaterji, a neighbourhood of Aleppo. The picture was sent to Telegraph correspondent Raf Sanchez by a doctor working in Aleppo, and since then it’s been shared thousands of times on social media. A video was also released by Aleppo Media center showing Omran being pulled from the rubble after the airstrike. The boy was taken to M10 hospital, which was also hit, where doctors treated him for a head injury before later releasing him.

Aleppo has been held by rebels since 2012 despite being the target of a Russian-backed government siege. Click here to see what this once beautiful city looked like compared to how it looks after four years of war.

He looks like he was sleeping while his building got bombed. And they save him and they put him in an ambulance in which 3 people are taking video/photo of him. He looks so confused and lost. I really hope this WW3 will end someday :(

And yet, it won't change anything. Countless images like this have been flooding the internet not only from Syria, but from all over the world. Most people know about the bombing in Syria, but what about Turkey, Baghdad, Thailand, Pakistan, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Iraq... the list goes on. We may be very different people from very different cultures, but our governments are all very much the same in that we are all collateral damage, citizens and troops alike.

You're right Amber. I think it won't change unless we demand from the media to give us the full truthfull context with these images. We need them to speak about all the hidden agenda's from the politicians that start these wars. Their ties to the oil dollars and the warindustry. We also need them to speak about the terrorist attacks in the west in a way that does not just point blame at a specific kind of people, but also includes the story of how people like this boy and his family get hurt in the middle-eastern region. They get angry and some point this anger back at the west. Although this leads to horrible things it is not because the people from the Middle-East are demons, its that they are provoced to do demonic things by our bombs and corrupt politicians. And while most of them remain peacefull, some don't. We need to focus on the humanity of people not the inhumanity.
