You probably wouldn't expect to meet a grizzled mom at a cosplay convention, would you? An age-defying soul, however, is only one of the reasons why people fell in love with Solange from Manaus, Brazil. The other is her cool costumes.
Solange (aka Tia sol, "Aunty Sun") buys individual cosplay costume pieces online and puts them together all by herself. "A friend said that I wouldn't have the guts," told Solange. "I chose a famous character and had the DIY cosplay costume made without saying another word."
Despite her global internet following, the adorable aunty cosplays locally. "I don't miss a single event in my city. I'd really like to visit other ones, but have you seen the price of the fares?" Her favorite costume ideas include Yubaba from Spirited Away and Muriel from Courage the Cowardly Dog.
"I never thought that I would be well-received among the young people, I've made a lot of friends during all of this." Cosplay conventions have become a sort of a haven for Solange: "I can launch myself into the world of make-believe, where anything goes." Her next event is coming up in December. "I'm finishing up the painting on my new creative costume, Granny Juju from Jorel's Brother."

Oh! Nostalgia, damn I used to watch this show as I was getting ready to go to high school.

This is awesome. As a woman of a certain age who would love to go dressed to a Con, I'm inspired!
I love how she changed the size of some of her props to simulate different heights!!
Now that was bloody amazing. A lot of my favourite "older" characters from anime as well.
Its something i have never seen in cosplay and very accurate in detail! I am so taking my nana to next comicon.
