Food Flags is a series of ads promoting the Sydney International Food Festival in which national flags and emblems were made out of ingredients indigenous to the country it represents. The advertising agency Whybin/TBWA has imaginatively used each country’s most famous dishes to replicate their national colors. This series of food art has been commissioned to advertise the international aspect of the food festival which took place in October 2009.
There’s a lot of creativity and culinary skill required to replicate the flags of the world so accurately. The rich colors of the Indian curries look perfect against the fluffy basmati rice. These dishes would probably make for great party snack ideas too, especially the South Korean sushi (kimbap) with dipping sauces. Maybe for your next internationally themed ‘Around The World’ party?
The idea is truly original, however, the concept is somewhat similar to another ad campaign we’ve posted earlier on Bored Panda, see The Real Meaning Of National Flags (8 flags explained). Food Flags is definitely one of the tastiest ads campaigns I’ve ever seen, and I would definitely eat Greece too. What about you?
Bon appetit!
